CLARION, Pa. (NOT) — In a dramatic attempt to quell controversy over its recent fundraising raffle, the HUS-AVC Athletic Booster Club announced Monday it has retained the services of renowned magician The Great Zamboni to oversee all future prize drawings.

The move comes after this month’s contentious drawing for a new pickup truck, during which several attendees claimed they saw volunteer drawer Sharon Henderson’s sleeve “looking suspiciously bulky” and accused her of “somehow making her sister-in-law’s ticket appear like magic.”

“We want complete transparency in our raffle process,” said Booster Club President Tim Matthews, while The Great Zamboni levitated behind him at Monday’s press conference. “And who better to ensure there’s absolutely no sleight of hand than someone who’s literally a master of sleight of hand?”

The Great Zamboni, who legally changed his name from Gary Peterson in 1987, will implement several changes to the drawing procedure, including the use of a clear plastic tumbler, UV-light ticket inspection, and a mandatory “nothing up my sleeve” routine before each selection.

“As a professional illusionist, I can assure you that no tricks will be performed during these drawings,” announced The Great Zamboni, before inexplicably producing a white dove from his top hat. “Unless, of course, I’m performing my pre-drawing entertainment package, which is available to the Booster Club at a very reasonable rate.”

Local parent Sarah Chen, who initially raised concerns about the truck raffle, expressed mixed feelings about the solution. “I’m not entirely sure hiring someone who specializes in deception is the answer to concerns about deception,” she said. “But I have to admit, watching him pull the winning tickets out of thin air while surrounded by a ring of fire does make it more entertaining.”

The Booster Club has also announced that all future raffle tickets will be printed on special paper that disappears when tucked into sleeves, just to be safe.
