CLARION, Pa. (NOT) — Organizers called it “their most successful demonstration to date” as the local activist group “Cat Ladies for Kamala” gathered outside the Clarion County Courthouse Tuesday, wielding strongly worded signs and sporting an impressive array of seasonal cardigans.
“We’re sending a powerful message,” declared group leader Margaret Wilson, whose “Meow Means No” sign kept falling over in the light breeze. “Just as soon as Barbara gets back from her emergency cat grooming appointment, we’ll have enough people to spell out ‘RESIST’ – though we might have to skip the ‘T’ due to Sharon having book club today.”
The protest, scheduled strategically between morning bird-watching and afternoon tea time, featured the group’s signature move of passive-aggressively tutting at passing pickup trucks with Republican bumper stickers.
“We’ve really stepped up our game,” explained member Susan Thompson, pausing to adjust her “Nevertheless, She Purr-sisted” button. “Last week, we only brought three kinds of homemade cookies to share. This week, we have five, including Gloria’s sugar-free options.”
Local conservatives reported feeling “mildly inconvenienced” by having to walk around the protest to reach the courthouse steps, though several admitted to stopping for a cookie.
The demonstration reached its peak when the ladies successfully completed a full round of “This is What Democracy Looks Like” before having to break for their 2:30 PM medication schedules.
The protest was cut short due to concerns about missing the early bird special at County Seat, though organizers promised to return next week “weather and arthritis permitting.”
